New-generation Korean
SUV gets Euro 6 petrol and diesel engines, and will also get an all-electric variant in the future. An Australian launch is locked in for the third quarter of 2019.

SsangYong has debuted and detailed its new Korando at the Geneva motor show, ahead of an Australian launch later this year.
Two engines will be offered, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol and 1.6-litre turbo-diesel, both certified to the Euro 6 emissions standard.
The petrol makes 120kW at 5500rpm and 280Nm between 1500 and 4000, while the diesel puts out 100kW at 4000rpm and 324Nm between 1500 and 2500rpm.
A six-speed manual is fitted as standard to the petrol motor, with a six-speed automatic from Aisin available as an option. The latter is standard fit with the diesel, while both engines will be offered with front- or all-wheel drivetrains.
Maximum towing capacities for the petrol and diesel models are 1500kg and 2000kg respectively.
The fresh Korando measures 4450mm long, 1870mm wide and 1620mm tall, with a wheelbase spanning 2675mm.
Behind the second row of seating, there's a healthy 551L of cargo capacity, which expands to 1248L with the rear bench folded.
At the front of the cabin, the Korando claims to provide better headroom and second-row passenger space than its competitors, along with a "high-tech premium feel interior".

There's a 10.25-inch digital driver's display available, along with a 9.0-inch central infotainment display that can be had with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
SsangYong is going all out with the active safety gear, too. There's autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, along with safe distance and driver alerts.
Following the launch of the petrol and diesel models later this year, SsangYong says an all-electric version based on the e-SIV concept will "follow", though hasn't given exact timing.

BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel engines are constructed with lightweight aluminum and use variable turbine geometry, which permits a more efficient use of exhaust heat energy. This results in the turbo engine performing like a much larger aspirated engine and achieving typical BMW torque with lowered fuel consumption. The BMW 3 Series and 5 Series diesel models are cleaner, quieter, and more efficient additions to the road that feature legendary BMW performance and design.
